JAKARTA - The vice presidential candidate Mahfud MD recalled his mother's message when she was given a white shirt that was worn when registering with Ganjar Pranowo, a presidential candidate at the KPU Office, Thursday, October 18. This white shirt is Mahfud MD's silent witness when he canceled his candidacy for vice president Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in the 2019 presidential election. In the last minute, Mahfud's name was replaced by Ma'ruf Amin because of the dynamics in the supporting party. Mahfud said that he had entrusted this white shirt to his mother in Madura. "I entrusted this shirt to my mother in Madura. When I received the message, I was most likely to be brought to the presidential candidate by the PDIP, PPP, Hanura and Perindo coalitions, on October 16, I went to my mother to take clothes that were not worn to the KPU 5 years ago," said Mahfud at the KPU office, Menteng. When he received this white shirt, Mahfud recalled the message conveyed by his mother. "Yes, he continues to pray for me, hopefully it will be successful and continue to be my son who is straight and devoted to his parents," said Mahfud. Mahfud previously explained, after the white that he wore was a silent witness to his cancellation as a vice presidential candidate for President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who ran for the second time in the 2019 Presidential Election (Pilpres). At that time, at the last minute he was replaced by Ma'ruf Amin because there was a political dynamic that occurred in the middle of a supporting party. "Today I am wearing a white shirt which five years ago I prepared to register for the KPU," Mahfud said on stage at the Proclamation Monument. "This was not used even though it was finished," he continued.

Even so, Mahfud admitted that he was not discouraged by the incident. The proof is that he is now using the shirt to register as Ganjar's vice presidential candidate.
