Investigate Extortion Of KPK Chair, Police Make Sure Not To Be Affected By SYL Suspect Status

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya is still investigating the alleged extortion case committed by the chairman of the KPK against former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo. Although, the status of the NasDem politician is already a suspect in a case handled by an anti-corruption agency.

"The fingerprint process at Polda Metro Jaya is still ongoing," said Director of Special Criminal Investigation at Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak to VOI, Thursday, October 12.

The handling of the alleged extortion case carried out by the KPK leadership was originally investigated. This means that the Polda Metro Jaya found a criminal element in the case.

On the previous occasion, Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto has also emphasized that he will thoroughly investigate the alleged extortion case of the KPK leadership against Syahrul Yasin Limpo or SYL.

According to him, all reports of alleged criminal acts submitted to Polda Metro Jaya will be resolved.

"Yes, when the case has been submitted, we will solve it," said Karyoto.

However, Karyoto did not convey the latest developments in the handling of the alleged extortion case. The reason is that the investigation process is still ongoing.

In fact, when asked about the figure of the reported person who was called the head of the KPK, the two-star general only said that it would later be open after the investigation process was completed.

Currently, the investigative team is still collecting evidence and clues to uncover the suspect who blackmailed SYL.

"It will be seen that the results of the next investigation will be," said Karyoto.

Meanwhile, the KPK has officially named Syahrul, Kasdi, and Hatta as suspects. The determination was made after evidence was found during a forced search.

From the search, the KPK found Rp30 billion in cash while searching Syahrul's official residence in Widya Chandra Complex, South Jakarta on Thursday, September 28. These findings were obtained in rupiah currency denominations, US dollars, and Singapore dollars.

In addition, the KPK team found Rp 400 million in cash while searching Hatta's house in the Jagakarsa area, South Jakarta, Sunday, October 1.
