Escalation Of War In Gaza Increases, DPR Asks The Ministry Of Foreign Affairs To Due To The Evaluation Of Indonesian Citizens

JAKARTA - Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives continues to monitor the development of war in Gaza, Palestine, which has claimed more than 1,100 lives. The DPR requested that the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs evacuate Indonesian citizens in the area as soon as possible.

"And as much as possible to maintain the security of Indonesian citizens in conflict areas, not only in Gaza but also in the West Bank, in accordance with Indonesia's goal of opening the 1945 Constitution, namely 'protecting the entire Indonesian nation and all of Indonesia's bloodshed'," said Chairman of Commission I of the House of Representatives Meutya Hafid in his statement, Wednesday, October 11.

Commission I of the House of Representatives views that the war in Gaza cannot be separated from the root of the conflict that has occurred since 1948, namely the capture of Palestinian territory by Israel.

"In addition to all forms of violence and discrimination by Israel against the Palestinian people over the years," Meutya said.

Therefore, Meutya emphasized, Commission I of the DPR reminded that the attitude of the Government of Indonesia must continue to consistently adhere to the mandate of the constitution that opposes various forms of colonization on earth and continues to support Palestinian independence.

The commission in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also asked all parties in conflict to stop all forms of provocation and start thinking about dialogue paths, as well as short-term and long-term solutions.

"Short-term solutions such as the cessation of all forms of violence both by Israel and Hamas as well as the support of all countries (including the United States, European Union, Britain, Iran, Lebanon) in realizing peace in the form of long-term solutions 'two-state solutions'," he said.

"Where is the formation of an independent Palestinian state based on international law and internationally agreed parameters," continued Meutya.

Meutya added that Commission I of the DPR also asked the United Nations (UN) to play a more active role in starting the dialogue process and trying to resolve the root of the main conflict. According to him, the absence of the UN in its efforts to resolve the Palestinian conflict has become a sharp criticism of the existence of this institution.

"The PBB must also reject all solutions that are decided unilaterally," said the Golkar politician.
