Dozens Of Street Vendors In Gambir Area Dismantled, Traders: Will Also Return Again

Dozens of kiosks belonging to Street Vendors (PKL) on Jalan Pejambon, Gambir, Central Jakarta were demolished by joint officers, Tuesday, October 10. The demolition was carried out in the context of the revitalization process of the area.

Salah satu pedagang Salman (51) penjual sate Madura yang sudah berjual sejak tahun 2007, merasa setuju saja dengan pembongkaran tempat berjualnya karena nanti dipastikan akan kembali berjual di tempat tersebut.

Salman said that at this time he was still adjusting to his selling place in the Gambir area for the next three months.

"Maybe it's still an adjustment first. Maybe a week, two weeks," he told reporters, Tuesday, October 10.

Meanwhile, the Assistant for the Economy and Development (Asekbang) of the Central Jakarta City Government (Pemkot), Bakwan Ferizan Ginting, said that 17 stalls in Pejambon Park will be revitalized with the work being carried out for 3 months.

"Today we are making preparations to organize stalls owned by traders on Jalan Pejambon. This revitalization is carried out because the condition of the building is no longer feasible," said Bakwan Ferizan.

Bakwan said that the traders who were put in order would be temporarily transferred to three temporary locations still in Central Jakarta.

"It is in Gondangdia, and two places are in Gambir. After it is built, we will make sure they will return here again," he said.
