Bandung City Government Asks Regional Apparatus To Focus On Handling Waste

BANDUNG - Bandung City Regional Secretary (Sekda) Bandung City Ema Sumarna emphasized to regional officials to focus on paying attention to waste problems in their area during the waste emergency.

"The waste emergency period until October 25, 2023, is only 16 days away. The handling of waste in the city of Bandung has gone well. However, the ideal is still far away, because it still depends on the TPA," Ema said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, October 9.

He said that until now Bandung City's waste production has reached 1,600 tons per day, with the availability of 135 polling stations spread across various points.

Therefore, Ema invites the whole community to be able to sort waste out from the source.

"For example, at the Cicendo District Office, food or organic waste is put in the Loeda (Lowong Sesa Dapur), inorganic is put in a basket and partnered with the Gober team (Gorong-gurong and Hygiene)," he said.

In addition, he revealed that many areas in the city of Bandung have become a pilot regarding waste management.

"Like in the Antapani Tengah Village, Sukajadi and several other areas that have successfully managed waste. So it's just a matter of learning how to go there in each area," he said.

Previously, the Bandung City Government extended the waste emergency period by issuing Mayor's Instruction (Inwal) and Circular regarding waste management in Bandung City.
