Seruyan Case, Central Kalimantan Governor Asks President To Evaluate PBS And HTI Permits In Central Kalimantan

Central Kalimantan Governor Sugianto Sabran hopes that the President will evaluate the business rights (HGU) permits for large private companies (PBS) and industrial plantation forests (HTI) in the local area.

"I ask the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Joko Widodo, to evaluate PBS and HTI who do not carry out their obligations to provide 20 percent plasma so that the HGU permit is no longer extended or revoked," said Central Kalimantan Governor Sugianto Sabran as reported by ANTARA, Monday, October 9.

As a result of PBS and HTI which do not run plasma 20 percent, according to him, it becomes a trigger and trigger for social conflict in the community.

It was revealed that the conflict between the community and PT Hamparan Masawit Bangun Persada (HMBP) in Bangkal Village, Seruyan Raya District, Seruyan Regency is a fact that is in sight and has happened.

"I do not blame the public because they demand their rights which are already in the provisions that companies are obliged to allocate 20 percent of plasma," he said.

The Governor of Central Kalimantan is concerned about the conflict incident in Bangkal Village, Seruyan Regency which resulted in the death toll and serious injuries caused by clashes with the authorities.

"For the sense of justice of residents, the Provincial Government and the Central Kalimantan DAD guarantee the cost of treating victims of conflict completely," he explained.

Sugianto also hopes that the problem will be resolved soon and a similar incident will not happen again. This can be realized if each other can understand each other's obligations and rights.

"This conflict will not happen and will not be repeated if each party understands and interprets each other's rights and obligations," he added.

People in Central Kalimantan are open and uphold the adab based on the philosophy of Huma Betang.

So, the governor continued, it is a common hope that the Large Private Company operating in Central Kalimantan will not be limited to carrying out its plasma obligation of 20 percent, but more than that.

"PBS and HTI can contribute significantly, especially in building education and health sectors, as well as rural infrastructure which is the basic sector of development and welfare," said Sugianto.
