Villages In OKI South Sumatra Turn Cars Into Forest And Land Fire Hunting Fleet

KAYU AGUNG - A number of village heads in Mesuji Makmur, Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI) district have transformed "pick up" vehicles or open tubs into a fleet of hunters and forest and land fires (Karhutla).

"This is a creative idea from village heads to overcome forest and land fires, there are already 13 other village fleet units to follow immediately," said Head of Mesuji Makmur Sub-district of OKI Regency, Imam Tohari in OKI, Saturday, October 7.

The tip started with a land fire that hit a resident's garden, the creative ideas of village heads in Mesuji Makmur District emerged so that they could quickly be overcome. Currently, of the 19 villages, 13 of them already have a forest and land fire fighting fleet.

Imam said that the existence of this forest and land fire fire fleet makes it easier for village officials to deal with forest and land fires in their village areas.

"We are helping the regional task force that is struggling against forest and land fires, village heads and people who are responsive to this disaster," he said.
