JAKARTA - PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) has budgeted IDR 14.9 billion in the procurement of a growth lighting grass growth unit for grass at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) field ahead of the U-17 World Cup.

This was revealed on the official Jakpro procurement website http://epros.jakarta-propertindo.com/. It was stated that Jakpro was opening a tender for the project for the procurement of the main field growthlight unit JIS of Rp14.9 billion.

President Director of PT Jakpro Iwan Takwin explained that the procurement of growth units was carried out by Jakpro to assist the grass growth process in the JIS field.

Given, ultraviolet light light technology in this tool can help treat grass in uncertain weather.

"Growlight is very much needed to support operational sustainability of grass field performance at JIS with a high match intensity," Iwan told reporters, Thursday, October 5.

Meanwhile, the value of this growlighting procurement project is greater than the cost of replacing JIS grass which is discussed to cost Rp. 6 billion.

Even though it is more expensive than grass replacement, Iwan emphasized that growthlighting is still needed for the long-term grass treatment process.

"This Growlight tool is a long-term investment requirement for additional grass treatment equipment at JIS," explained Iwan.

"That grass and growlight replacement is two different things to meet the needs of the field with excellent quality according to FIFA standards," he continued.

Currently, an international-class stadium in Papanggo, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, has been temporarily closed to the public until December 1, 2023.

The closing of JIS was carried out to perfect the preparation of this stadium as a match venue for several teams as set out.

The U-17 World Cup itself is scheduled to take place in four stadiums in Indonesia, namely the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), Si Jalak Harupat Stadium Bandung, Manahan Stadium Solo, and Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium Surabaya from November 10 to December 2, 2023.

JIS will be used as a venue for Group C (Brazil, England, Iran, New Caledonia) and E (France, South Korea, United States, Burkina Faso) matches.

In addition to the group stage, JIS will also be used for two last 16 matches and two quarter-final matches. Therefore, the Indonesian chance to play at this venue is open if it can go to the knockout round.
