JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government plans to carry out public health efforts (SMEs) that are separate from public health centers (puskesmas).
Acting Head of the DKI Jakarta Health Office, Ani Ruspitawati, explained that previously the puskesmas had two services, namely SMEs and individual health efforts (UKP).
"So, the puskesmas always has 2 feet, UKP and SMEs. He serves sick people at the primary level, but he also serves public health," said Ani at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday, October 3.
In the future, puskesmas will no longer carry out SME services that focus on counseling and preventive efforts regarding public health, as well as handling health problems that spread in an area.
"If there is a dengue report, the SME team will check the area. So, he is more on the field. We are trying to separate this so that it is equally strong, because if the UKP and SMEs are united, it will not be optimal," said Ani.
Thus, the puskesmas in Jakarta will focus on serving people who come to treat their respective health problems.

Meanwhile, the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono for the operation of this SME service is being tested. There are several urban villages that are pilot projects.
"The first example is in East Jakarta, Jati Village. Next is Johar Baru, (Central Jakarta). North Jakarta is in Kebon Bawang. West Jakarta is in Pegadungan. South Jakarta is in Lenteng Agung," explained Heru.
Currently, Heru said that his party is mapping the land in other locations that can be used as a place for SME services.
"We are looking for a place. If the place is suitable, there are local government assets that can be used for this, we will use them. Yesterday I also had a meeting on urban issues to discuss these efforts," he added.
