Referring To Jokowi, Prepare Official Houses To Allowances For ASN To Move To IKN

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Joko Widodo said the government had prepared a number of incentives and facilities, such as official houses to allowances for State Civil Apparatus (ASN) who would move to the capital city of the archipelago (IKN).

According to President Jokowi, these incentives and facilities are provided so that there are no obstacles or tough problems when transferring ASN to be assigned to IKN.

"Incentives have been prepared. If this doesn't exist, it's tough. But if there are incentives, it's different. Official houses, there are also landed houses and apartments. Moving costs are also given by husband and wife plus children. There are expensive allowances and other facilities," said Jokowi when opening the 2023 KORPRI National Working Meeting, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 3.

Jokowi explained that moving the capital city from Jakarta to IKN Nusantara to create a critical Indonesia so that economic equity no longer rests on the island of Java or Java, the centris.

According to the President, Java Island has been inhabited by 56 percent of Indonesia's population, which reaches 280 million people. This means that 150 million Indonesians are in Java.

As many as 58 percent of Indonesia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) came from Java, so the economic turnover was only centered on the island.

Therefore, the Head of State assesses that the carrying capacity in Java Island to accommodate the population is no longer strong, and the equitable development must be shifted to East Kalimantan so that Indonesia is critical.

To start IKN Nusantara, Jokowi emphasized the need for the transfer of central government ASN to East Kalimantan.

On the other hand, he also admitted that the transfer of ASN outside Java seemed more complicated, so incentives were needed.

"Indeed, I need a pioneer spirit. I used to be placed outside Java during the old days, it was normal. Now how come it's a bit complicated, how come it looks a bit complicated. But when you have been appointed, you move, you move, you move, I hope everything is finished," he said.
