Alluding To Religious Politicization In The DKI Gubernatorial Election, PKB Will Discipline Yaqut's Win

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of PKB Jazilul Fawaid, stated that his party would discipline cadres who currently serve as Minister of Religion, Yaqut Cholis Qoumas because they mentioned the existence of presidential candidate figures (candidates) who carried out religious politicization and mentioned the DKI Jakarta Pilgub. Jazilul reminded Yaqut to be careful in issuing statements. Moreover, the Ketum PP GP Ansor is a minister who should maintain inter-religious harmony. It is known, currently PKB carries the former governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan who is paired with General Chair Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin. "Be careful to keep his mouth. Because this is a public official, he is paid by state taxes to create a harmonious atmosphere, not to issue unnecessary statements. The people are more understanding," Jazilul told reporters, Monday, October 2. Therefore, the deputy chairman of the MPR emphasized that his party had prepared steps to discipline Yaqut as a PKB cadre. Because Jazilul said, Yaqut should not issue statements that raise speculation and lead public opinion.

"If the position is as a minister, it is the president who evaluates it. As a PKB cadre, we certainly have prepared disciplinary steps," said Jazilul. Moreover, as an assistant to the president, Jazilul assessed that Yaqut had indirectly spread fake news or hoaxes that led to divided politics.

"The president has said back and forth that we maintain unity, there should be no divided politics, don't make hoaxes. This is a hoax from the state, how come this is a hoax starting from the Minister of Religion which is actually responsible for religious harmony," said Jazilul. "I think it's inappropriate. Let the public evaluate it, if not the president evaluate it," he continued. In addition, Jazilul added, the party will also discipline cadres who are not one voice to support the Anies-Cak Imin (Amen) pair in the upcoming presidential election. Previously, Yaqut had said that choosing 'Amen' is a bid'ah.

"We have declared the Amin pair and all administrators, constituents, PKB participants have all supported Amin. I think that is proof of obedience to the organization, which does not agree with that, meaning that it deviates from organizational decisions," said Jazilul. "Public will know who the PKB cadres are who deviate from organizational decisions and will definitely accept organizational discipline," he added. Previously, Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas reminded Buddhists not to arbitrarily choose leaders in the 2024 presidential election. He said religious people should realize that elections are just a mechanism to find out who will lead Indonesia.

According to him, religion with politics cannot be separated but it must also not be used as a political tool to fulfill the desire for power.

"Don't because you talk good, your mouth is sweet, your face is handsome, it's chosen. Don't be careless, you have to look at the track record first, it's good, thank God it's handsome, thank God it's sweet, it was chosen," said Yaqut while attending a prayer event with Wahana Nagara Rahaja at the Alila Hotel, Solo, Central Java, Saturday, September 30.

"We still remember, there was bad use of religion in politics some time ago, the election time for the Governor of DKI Jakarta and the Presidential Election," he continued.
