SAR Team Deploys Submarines To Find Batam State Polytechnic Students Drowning During Test Of Controld Remote Ships

The Tanjungpinang SAR team deployed six officers and rubber boats as well as diving equipment to search for a Batam State Polytechnic student, who drowned in a lake in the Batam Center area, Batam City, Riau Islands.

"We have deployed six officers and rubber boats and diving equipment to search for victims," said Acting Head of Tanjungpinang Basarnas Abdul Haris Achadi in Batam as reported by ANTARA, Monday, September 25.

From the information received, the incident began when the victim with the initials MTN was testing a control remote ship with his colleagues.

However, in testing, the ship capsized and one of its colleagues who couldn't swim sank.

The victim then tried to save his drowning partner, but unfortunately he drowned too. Meanwhile the colleague was rescued.

"They were busy at the location, but no one could swim," said the witness at the scene.

Currently, the Tanjungpinang Basarnas officers are still trying to conduct a sweep around the lake. Officers used rubber boats and diving equipment to search for victims.

The search for drowning victims was also assisted by firefighters from the local government and the local police.
