Prevent TIP At The RI-Malaysia Border, Immigration Forms Inmates Village Involves Village Heads And Their Devices

The Putussibau Immigration formed a village fostered to prevent criminal acts of trafficking in persons (TPPO) in Badau, Kapuas Hulu Regency, West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan).

Head of Subseksi Teknologi, Informasi, Intelijensi, dan Penindakan Kemigrasi Joenari Anthony Marpaung mengatakan pihaknya melakukan sosialisasi di wilayah perbatasan Indonesia dan Malaysia tersebut.

"We provide socialization and education to the assisted village community so that they know the procedures for working abroad and also regarding immigration," he said in Putussibau, Kapuas Hulu, West Kalimantan, Sunday, September 24, which was confiscated by Antara.

Marpaung said the formation of assisted villages in border areas was aimed at anticipating and preventing the occurrence of criminal acts of trafficking in persons.

"We hope that the community will participate in efforts to prevent TIP," he said.

Head of the Manpower, Industry and Transmigration Office of Kapuas Hulu Regency, Elisabeth Roslin, added that the village head (kades) and his apparatus in this program are expected to have insights into immigration.

In particular, he continued, related to the issuance of passports for Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) who will work abroad with the correct procedure so as not to be easily deceived by irresponsible people.

"The public needs to understand the procedures and provisions for finding work abroad because there are rules and laws," said Roslin.

Roslin does not want people to become victims of TIP at the border, so his party strongly supports the existence of immigration fostered villages.

Meanwhile, the representative of the Kapuas Hulu Police, Aipda Hendra Wijaya, who was a resource person in socialization in the immigration fostered village, appealed to the public to play a role in efforts to prevent the occurrence of TIP.

"We ask the public to report to law enforcement officials if they know of TIP at the border," said Hendra.
