KPK Detains 4 Suspects In The Corruption Case Of Church Construction In Mimika

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is developing a corruption case in the Kingmi Mile 32 Church construction project, Mimika, Papua. Four suspects were detained today.

Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur said the four suspects consisted of three private parties, Budiyanto Wijaya, Arif Yahya and Gustaf Urbanus Patandian; as well as a civil servant (PNS) Totok Suharto.

"Due to the needs and interests of the investigation process, the investigative team detained BW suspects, AY suspects, GUP suspects and TS suspects for each of them for the first 20 days," Asep told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta.

"This detention period can later be extended," said Asep. In this case, there are already three people who have become prisoners, namely former Mimika Regent Eltinus Omaleng, Commitment Making Officer (PPK) Marten Sawey, and Director of PT Waringin Megah Teguh Anggara.

"Currently, the legal process is ongoing in the stage of cassation legal remedies at the Supreme Court and appeals at the Makassar High Court," he said.

In this case, the KPK suspects that there was a discrepancy, including the period of work when the church was built and the lack of work volume even though payments had been made. As a result, the state lost up to Rp21.6 billion from the contract value of Rp46 billion.

In addition, it is suspected that Eltinus had various arrangements. One of them directly appointed PT Waringin Megah led by Teguh Anggara.

From this appointment, it is suspected that there was an agreement to provide a fee of 10 percent, of which 7 percent was for Eltinus and 3 percent was Teguh.

In addition, it is suspected that there was a subcontractor from another company, namely PT Kuala Persada Papua Nusantara (KPPN) who worked without a contract agreement. Eltinus said that the KPK also received around Rp4.4 billion in this case.
