JAKARTA - Ganjar Pranowo's presidential candidate stated that ulama must be involved in important state decisions because they have a role in determining policies for the welfare of millions of Indonesians.

"There were many problems when I was governor who finished with the help of ulama and religious leaders. If there are complicated problems and this requires the attention of many people, I always ask first religious and ulama leaders. They always provide soothing input and that solves problems," said Ganjar after a visit to KH Luqman Hakim and KH Djardjis Al Ishaqi, two grandchildren of Hadhuratussyaikh KH Muhammad Utsman Al Ishaqi in Surabaya, Friday, September 22, confiscated by Antara.

This method, continued Ganjar, is very effective in helping his leadership succeed during his two terms as Governor of Central Java. And Ganjar will keep it.

"The ulama and religious leaders provide a lot of lectures and input in a soothing way. And when it comes to society, by involving these ulama and religious leaders, the shade arises. People feel calm," he said.

Experience in Central Java, continued Ganjar, the involvement of ulama and religious leaders has a significant impact on society. Ganjar said that he was greatly helped by the existence of ulama and religious leaders by his side.

"From the level of speed of decision and shade, these ulama and community leaders play a very important role. And that becomes the basic capital for us to build Indonesia. It's all cool," he said.

Based on the schedule set by the General Elections Commission (KPU), the registration of prospective presidential and vice presidential candidates is scheduled to start from October 19 to November 25, 2023.

As regulated in Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections (UU Pemilu), pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total number of seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of valid votes nationally in the previous election for members of the DPR.

Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament so that pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI. In addition, candidate pairs can also be promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
