Alexander Finally Reveals The Atmosphere Of The KPK-TNI Meeting: As Soon As It's Finished, I Want To Go Home Soon

Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata finally spoke about the atmosphere of his institution's meeting with TNI entourage after the appointment of the Head of the National SAR Agency (Basarnas) Marshal Henri Alfiandi as a suspect.

It is known that the KPK and TNI meetings took place on July 28. At that time, the TNI entourage who came to the KPK's Red and White building were Danpuspom TNI Marshal Muda Handoko, Kapuspen TNI Rear Admiral Julius Widjojono, Kababinkum TNI Rear Admiral Kresno Buntoro, Deputy Attorney General for Military Crimes Major General Wahyoedho Indrajit, and Oditur General TNI Rear Admiral Nazali Lempo.

Initially, Alexander refused to talk much about the meeting, including the matter of pressure. He only explained that after the meeting there were TNI officers who wanted to meet the suspect in the alleged bribery case management at the Supreme Court (MA).

"In principle, in this case, the facilitated meeting could not be separated from the current situation," Alexander told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, September 21.

He then said he was uncomfortable with the meeting. However, Alexander refused to talk about any pressure.

"I personally feel uncomfortable (at the meeting, ed). I don't know other leaders," he said.

Alexander also said the condition of the meeting was very fast. So, he a bit forgot exactly the officer asked to meet the arrested suspect.

"As soon as I finished (the meeting, ed) I immediately wanted to go home. What is clear is that I still remember Mr. Asep (Plt Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur) saying something 'yes already rather than complicated'," he said reiterating the atmosphere of the meeting of the two institutions.

He also admitted that he did not have time to refuse the officer's request. Because, the conditions at that time called Alexander were not normal.

"Once again, we must not be able to separate the context of the situation at that time. So if it is in normal condition I will say 'no, tomorrow!' under normal conditions I will convey it like that," he said.

As previously reported, Alexander denied that there was a meeting between the leadership and detainees on the 15th floor. Instead, he explained that TNI officers asked to meet the suspect.

This statement was made to answer the news that a detainee in the bribery case for case management at the Supreme Court (MA) reportedly went up to the 15th floor of the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta. The location is where the KPK leadership is based.
