JAKARTA - The Supervisory Board of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will read out the verdict of the trial for alleged ethical violations committed by the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Johanis Tanak today, Thursday, September 21.

He is suspected of violating after contacting the Acting Director General of Mineral and Coal of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Idris Froyoto Sihite.

"Yes (the reading of Johanis Tanak's ethics trial was held today, ed)," said KPK Council Member Albertina Ho to reporters, Thursday, September 21.

Meanwhile, Johanis did not want to comment much on reading the verdict. "Hopefully there will be no more obstacles," he said when contacted by VOI.

Johanis also confirmed that he had submitted a memorandum of defense before the trial was read. In it, he said that he always maintains his commitment as one of the leaders of the anti-corruption commission and while serving at the Prosecutor's Office.

In addition, he said he did not know that Idris had now served as Acting Director General of Mineral and Coal at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. With these various defenses, Johanis hopes that the KPK Council will declare himself innocent. "Declare that the examinee has not committed an ethical violation," he said.

As previously reported, the KPK Supervisory Board will actually read out the ethical trial verdict on Thursday, September 14. KPK Supervisory Board member Syamsuddin Haris said the reading was not carried out because Johanis was still in a state of mourning because his mother had just died.

"The trial for reading the verdict has been postponed to Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 12.30 WIB," Syamsuddin told reporters, Thursday, September 14.
