Holding a Meeting This Afternoon, the DPR Wants to Know the Reasons for the KPU to Advance the Presidential Candidate Registration Schedule

JAKARTA - Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) will hold a consultation meeting to discuss the RPKPU for registration of participants in the 2024 Presidential Election with the General Election Commission (KPU) this afternoon. Commission II wants to know the reasons for the KPU to advance the registration schedule for presidential and vice presidential candidates.

"Commission II will conduct an RDP with the KPU. We will listen to the KPU's reasons for proposing to move forward the presidential candidate registration period. If you want to change the PKPU, it must be discussed together," said DPR Commission II member Guspardi Gaus to journalists, Wednesday, September 20.

Apart from the proposed changes to the registration schedule, Guspardi also wants to know the extent of the KPU's readiness to carry out this process.

"We will also see the KPU's readiness because they are the ones who proposed it," he said.

Guspardi assessed that his party would support if the accelerated registration of presidential election participants had a positive value. According to him, there is nothing wrong with making the registration time forward.

"If there are so many positive values ​​to be gained from accelerating implementation rather than registration, why wouldn't we support that acceleration?" he said.

For your information, a consultation meeting regarding PKPU and Perbawaslu will be held at 16.00 p.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB). Followed by a joint working meeting with the Minister of Home Affairs, KPU, Bawaslu regarding the Perppu Pilkada at 19.00 p.m. WIB.
