YOGYAKARTA - Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X is waiting for an official recommendation from UNESCO regarding the management of the Yogyakarta Philosophy Flats after the area was officially designated as a world cultural heritage.

"All parties must agree on something based on the recommendations given by UNESCO," said Sultan HB X at the Kepatihan Complex, Yogyakarta, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 19.

According to Sultan, as in a number of other world cultural heritages, UNESCO will provide recommendations containing records that must be met by related parties and reported periodically.

When the management of the cultural heritage area is not appropriate or deviates from the recommendations, he said, this status can be revoked by UNESCO.

"There are provisions. It will be appropriate from there, if it is not appropriate, it can be revoked later, because we have to have a periodic report. I do not know," he said.

Regarding the recommendation, the Sultan is still waiting for news from a number of delegates from Yogyakarta who were sent to attend the 45th Session of the World Heritage Committee (WHC) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Learning from the determination of world cultural heritage, both in Europe, Russia, Japan, according to the Sultan, usually a forum or organization related to the management of the region consisting of the government, academics, and community representatives will be formed.

"People must exist. Their aspirations also need to be heard, so don't want to be alone, that's about it," he said.

The Sultan also ensured that UNESCO's determination of world cultural heritage did not necessarily prohibit development activities along the region.

It's just that, according to him, if the construction location is included in the Philosophy Axis, it is possible that there are restrictions in accordance with the recommendations. "So we can still build," said the Sultan.

Previously, UNESCO established the Yogyakarta Philosophy Axis as one of Indonesia's world heritages at the 45th Session of the World Heritage Committee or WHC in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Monday (18/9).

The Yogyakarta Philosophy Axis on the UNESCO World Heritage List entitled "The Cosmological Axis of Yogyakarta and It's Historical Landmarks" is recognized as a world heritage, because it is considered to have an important universal meaning.

The concept of spatial planning, known as the Yogyakarta Philosophy Axis, was first initiated by the First King of the Ngayogyakarta Sultanate Hadiningrat in the 18th century.

This spatial layout concept was created based on the Javanese conception and in the form of a straight road structure that stretches between the Krapyak Stage to the south, the Yogyakarta Kraton and the Yogyakarta Tugu to the north.
