The General Elections Commission (KPU) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag), the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora), as well as the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) related to the 2024 General Election.
"There has been a signing of a understanding or MoU between the KPU and three institutions, namely the Ministry of Religion, Kemenpora, and PPATK," said KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari during a press conference after the signing of the MoU at the KPU office, Jakarta, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, September 15.
The KPU, said Hasyim, realizes that elections are a democratic party that cannot be held by one party. The reason is, there are many topics that need to be worked on together with various parties.
"This is a form that holding elections involves many parties," he said.
The number of novice voters in the 2024 General Election is quite large. His party wants to adopt the spirit of sportsmanship in election contestation so that the KPU cooperates with the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
"The youth category voters are very large, spread across various youth organizations, student organizations, and of course we want to take the spirit of sportsmanship that can contribute to electoral competitions," he said.
Then, the KPU requires election participants to report campaign funds. In this case, the KPU feels the need to cooperate with PPATK to handle financial transactions and report campaign funds.
There is an obligation for election participants to report campaign funds. For this reason, there is a special campaign fund account prepared. It must be a bank-able or transfer-able model through banks and there is an institution that specializes in handling financial transactions, namely PPATK," he explained.
The KPU is working with the Ministry of Religion to optimize electoralization at educational institutions under the auspices of the Ministry of Religion.
"In which there are students, students or students who are included in the voter category, and there are lecturers, teaching staff, and teachers who I think can contribute to voter education, socialization or even be part of election organizers," he said.

"KPU needs factions up to the village level, there are polling stations (voting stations), so collaborating and collaborating with the Ministry of Religion is important," said Hasyim.
The chairman of the KPU assessed that the signing of the MoU with the Ministry of Religion, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and PPATK was strategic.
"This situation is something that in our view is strategic to contribute to the development of democracy and the development of our election," added Hasyim.
