Support Downstream, Jokowi Praises IPB Agricultural Product Innovation

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo praised the innovation of agricultural products produced by the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) because they have been packaged and supported the downstream program. "There are various (farm products) with very modern packaging, with brands that are very visible to be worked on with a very good touch of marketing," Jokowi said in the 60th Anniversary of IPB's Dies Open Session quoted by ANTARA, Friday, September 15. Arriving at IPB, Jokowi was invited by the Chancellor of IPB Arif Satria to see agricultural innovation products produced by the campus students. "I was shown by the chancellor for a lot of misleading innovations, downstream from innovation can enter the industry, and I have to convey what it is, extraordinary," said Jokowi. Jokowi had time to see chilies to quality rice. "There are chilies that are big, red, like that; what is there, rice that is especially for barren lands, rice whose one hectares can produce how much, 12 tons; there is salt; seaweed," he explained. Jokowi also asked the Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo to take as much rice and chili as the production of IPB students to be distributed to farmers.

"This, the Minister of Agriculture, whose rice was taken earlier, was taken; the chilies are also taken, give them to the farmers as much as possible. The goods are clear," Jokowi said to Yasin Limpo. On that occasion, Jokowi also congratulated the 60th Dies Natalis to the big family of IPB. He prayed for IPB to be more victorious and contributive in solving the nation's problems and for the progress of the nation.
