Public Prosecutor Demands 21.33 Grams Of Methamphetamine Courier 9 Years In Prison

The Belawan District Attorney's Public Prosecutor (JPU) charged the defendant Junaidi alias Jeje from Medan City with a sentence of nine years in prison in a case of being a narcotics courier of 21.33 grams of methamphetamine.

"Asking the panel of judges to sentence them to nine years in prison, a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to one year in prison," said Public Prosecutor Bella Azigna Purnama at the Medan District Court, North Sumatra, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, September 14.

He said the defendant Junaidi violated as regulated and was threatened with criminal sanctions under Article 114 paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

Namely, without rights or against the law offering for sale, selling, buying, receiving, intermediary in buying and selling, exchanging, arau handed over narcotics class I instead of plants weighing more than five grams, namely 21.33 grams.

"The aggravating thing was that the defendant's actions disturbed the public, the defendant's actions did not heed and did not support the government's program in eradicating narcotics," Bella said.

While mitigating things, Bella said the defendant was polite at the trial, acknowledged and regretted his actions in carrying out the act of distributing the methamphetamine.

After the Prosecutor's Office of Belawan read out the memorandum of demand, the panel of judges chaired by Donald Penggabean continued the trial with the agenda of the memorandum of demand next week.

Previously in the indictment on June 2, 2023, police officers from the Belawan Port Poles received information from the public that there were methamphetamine drug dealers on Jalan Rawe VII Lingkungan IX, Gang Melati, Tangkahan Village, Medan Labuhan District, Medan City.

The officer went to the defendant's house, then Junaidi was in the house, and tried to escape from behind the house with a black plastic package.

After that, Junaidi was arrested along with evidence with a total weight of 21.33 grams of crystal methamphetamine. From the results of the interrogation, the defendant Dede Ayong (DPO) by dividing the proceeds by Rp50 thousand per gram.
