Press Air Pollution, 700 High Buildings In Jakarta Install Water Fog Generators

Around 700 high-rise buildings belonging to private companies in DKI Jakarta are ready to install a high-pressure pump (water mass generator) to make water fog to suppress air pollution.

"There are already around 700 building owners. They support the program with 'water mass'," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency (DLH) Asep Kuswanto when confirmed, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 13. Mayors in each DKI Jakarta area have also gathered all private building owners to socialize the use of the "water mass generator". However, Asep said, the availability and procurement of a "water mass generator" for each private building in the capital is still constrained. Currently, water pumps are being produced by the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves) together with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).

"If there are many available, I am optimistic that the building owner will definitely provide a 'water mist' tool," said Asep.

Asep hopes that building owners can take the initiative to install a "water mission" as a building equipment, just like a fire extinguisher. "So that when air quality worsens, private buildings can jointly use water mist," he said. Acting (Pj) DKI Jakarta Governor Heru Budi Hartono has targeted all DKI Jakarta Provincial Government buildings to install high-pressure pumps (water mist generators) to suppress air pollution.

"We'll go around. We'll find out when (to check)," said Heru at DKI City Hall, Central Jakarta, Monday.

Offices belonging to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government that have installed a "water mass generator" include the Central Jakarta Mayor's Office and the North Jakarta Mayor's Office. East Jakarta Mayor's Office, West Jakarta Mayor's Office and South Jakarta Mayor's Office.
