Medan District Court Judge Sentenced Courier 2,000 Pills Ecstasy 13 Years In Prison

The panel of judges at the Medan District Court, North Sumatra, Tuesday sentenced the defendant M. Amin alias Pak Min, from Aceh, in a narcotics courier case of 2,000 ecstasy pills.

"Trialed and sentenced the defendant M. Amin alias Pak Min to 13 years in prison, a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to six months in prison," said Arfan Yani when reading the verdict reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 12.

The panel of judges in the verdict stated that the facts of the trial of the defendant violated Article 114 paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics, as stated in the first indictment.

Namely without rights or against the law offering to sell, sell, buy, accept, become intermediaries in buying and selling, exchanging and handing over narcotics class I in the form of non-plants of 2,000 ecstasy pills.

"The aggravating thing is that the defendant's actions do not support the government's program in eradicating narcotics and disturbing the community," he said.

Meanwhile, Arfan Yani said things that made it easier for the defendant to admit his actions and regret his actions.

After reading the verdict, the Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor Rahmi Shafrina and the defendant's legal adviser and the defendant accepted the verdict.

The verdict of the panel of judges is two years lighter than the demands of the North Sumatra Prosecutor's Office for 15 years, a fine of Rp. 1 billion and a subsidiary of six months in prison.
