Denpasar Police Arrest Dozens Of Narcotics Dealers

The Denpasar City Police Narcotics Investigation Unit (Polresta), Bali, arrested and named as many as 30 suspects who played a narcotics dealer during August 2023.

"The number of cases revealed during August 2023 is 27 cases where the suspects who were arrested were 30 people, 26 of them were men and four women," said Denpasar Deputy Chief of Police AKBP I Wayan Jiartana, Monday, September 11.

Jiartana stated that the amount of evidence secured by the Denpasar Police Narcotics Unit from the disclosure of the case was methamphetamine weighing 521.09 grams, marijuana 3.48 grams, ecstasy 50 pills (19.14 grams), and synthetic tobacco weighing 10.41 grams.

Of the 30 dealers, three people made repeated/recidivist mistakes, namely Kadek Pramana who was involved in drug cases in 2020, Nyoman Sri Budining was involved in drugs in 2021, and Dewa Ketut Matra Yasat was involved in the 2011 iron theft.

According to him, the dealers involved in the sale and purchase of prohibited goods on average have the same motive, namely for economic reasons. Of the 27 disclosures of the case, there were eight striking cases with quite large narcotics evidence presented at a press conference at the Denpasar Police Headquarters.

Jiartana said from the disclosure, the Denpasar Police managed to save 10 thousand young people from the dangers of using narcotics.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Denpasar Police Narcotics Investigation Unit, Kompol Mirza Gunawan, stated that narcotics trafficking in Bali is dominated by networks outside Bali using the method of shipping by land.

"The roads used are still dominated by land routes. Others are still not too visible. Goods from outside Bali where they only distribute them here. They are also told to," he said.

According to Gunawan, drug trafficking in Bali is currently targeting various groups without exception with various modes of diversity.

"Right now, we cannot sort out who is clearly targeting all levels of society so that people are asked to be more sensitive to their fellow families," he said.
