Social Assistance Fraud Targets PPSU Employees In Gambir, The Victim Is Invited To Walk Until He Is Hypnotized

JAKARTA - The Gambir Metro Police Chief AKBP Kade Budiyarta ensures that they will continue to investigate the fraud perpetrators who hypnotized the Public Infrastructure and Facilities Management (PPSU) employees in the Cideng area, Gambir.

A PPSU officer named Hanavi (56) who is a victim has asked for this case to be stopped. However, according to Budi, the process is still ongoing because the perpetrator with the initials WP is suspected of having done something similar to another victim.

"Yesterday the PPSU requested that the case not be continued. However, we check whether or not there is a criminal act committed by the WP. It turns out that he has already committed the same incident with a similar mode," Budi said when contacted by Antara, Thursday, February 4.

On Tuesday, February 2, the Gambir Metro Police questioned a man with the initials WP who was suspected of cheating. The perpetrator targeted a PPSU employee in the Cideng area, Gambir, Central Jakarta named Hanavi.

The mode used is the lure of social assistance. Hanavi was asked by the perpetrator to take her to the point where the social assistance was given, but in fact Hanavi was invited by the WP to tour the Gambir sub-district.

The victim was then asked to hand over his motorbike to the WP. Luckily Hanavi finally realized after one of her PPSU friends greeted Hanavi while passing Jalan Petojo Enclek IX.

Hanavi's case was uploaded by the Instagram account @info_jakartapusat on Tuesday afternoon. In the upload of the account, it is narrated that a man suspected of theft was successfully secured by residents and PPSU officers at Jalan Balikpapan number 22, Gambir, Central Jakarta.

Budi said that WP often deceive their victims by offering social assistance in the form of basic necessities.

When the victim, who owned a motorized vehicle, agreed to take social assistance, the WP was found to have tricked the victim with hypnosis and finally took the victim's motorbike.

"He always lures his victims to offer social assistance, right. After the victim is tempted by what the WP promised, that's where the perpetrator takes the victim's motorbike," said Budi.

There are also points that are often used as location taxpayers to launch their actions around the Gambir area to be precise around Jalan Budi Kemerdekaan.

Budi confirmed that the WP is currently still being detained at the Gambir Metro Police, Central Jakarta to continue further investigation.

WP can be charged under Article 378 KUHP or 372 KUHP with the threat of imprisonment for 4 years.
