JAKARTA - The City Government of Kediri, East Java, involved the team of the Sepuluh November Institute of Technology (ITS) Surabaya to examine the polluted water content in Tempurejo Village, Kediri City, because the water can burn if the fire ignites.
The Mayor of Kediri Abdullah Abu Bakar, Sunday, in Kediri said that he had visited Sulastri's house, a resident of Tempurejo Village who found water in his house was polluted.
In fact, the water is blackish and can burn when ignited by fire.
"The team from the Cleanliness and Parks Environment Agency (DLHKP) will bring this black water to ITS. The goal is to investigate any content. Some time ago ITS took samples here and we are waiting for the exact results," he said, quoted from Antara, Sunday.
He added that the explanation of the results of the temporary examination of the water samples examined by the ITS team found the content of hydrocarbon petroleum. Apart from Sulastri's house, there were also a number of other residents' houses that experienced water pollution.
In the sampling, the total hydrocarbon petroleum (TPH) in Semi's house was 16.50, Sugiono 7, Sutiyah 14, Kasmini 7, and bore well 14.5.
Meanwhile, black water and fire can be ignited if it is lit, it must still be researched to find out the content.
"It has been found that this is pollution and even the water is getting thicker. Later it will be investigated further and looked for the source. How to find it, ITS will use geoelectricity," he said.
He also appealed to the surrounding community not to use polluted water in their environment.
In addition, the Kediri City Government also continues to deliver clean water to residents.
Every day the team from the Kediri City DLHKP fills the reservoir in front of residents' houses in the morning and evening.
He has also emphasized that polluted water should not be used until there are definite results from the ITS team's research. After the source of pollution is known, the Kediri City Government will immediately carry out recovery.
