NTB - The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) High Court (PT) has increased Muzakir Langkir's sentence, a defendant in the 2017-2020 regional public service agency (BLUD) fund management corruption.

The sentence of the former Director of the Praya Regional General Hospital in Central Lombok was 8 years from 6 years. This verdict is higher than the previous court ruling.

"The defendant Muzakir Langkir was sentenced to eight years in prison and a fine of Rp. 300 million, subsidiary to six months in prison," said Chief Justice Achmad Guntur, who rejected the appeal of the defendant Muzakir Langkir, quoted from the YouTube channel PT NTB from Mataram, Thursday, September 7.

Muzakir was also sentenced to pay compensation for state losses amounting to Rp1.26 billion, subsidiary to one year and six months in prison.

In the decision number: 8/PID.TPK/2023/PT MTR, it was also determined that the confiscated money as evidence in the case was confiscated for the state and taken into account for the compensation for state losses charged to the defendant.

Including the return of state losses by the defendant worth Rp. 50 million and three land ownership certificates (SHM) in the Central Lombok area on behalf of Muzakir Langkir were asked to be confiscated and auctioned to be used as an additional payment for state losses.

The judge at the appeal level made this decision by stating that he changed the decision of the Corruption Court at the Mataram District Court Number 8/Pid.Sus-TPK/2023/PN Mtr dated July 11, 2023, just regarding the main sentence, nominal money to compensate for state losses, and the status of evidence.

The judge stated that the defendant Muzakir Langkir was legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption together as the first primary cumulative indictment and the second cumulative charge of the second alternative.

The consideration of the judge changing Muzakir Langkir's first-degree court decision was that the role of the defendant as Director of the Praya Hospital did not support the government's program in eradicating corruption, collusion and nepotism.

In addition, the judge stated that as a result of the defendant's actions, the quality of Praya Hospital services decreased and the emergence of state losses from this case was also a consideration for the judge to make such a decision.
