Distribution Of Waste To Sarimukti TPA Is Hampered, Bandung City Government Makes TPS Temporary Near GBLA Stadium

The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) revealed that it was forced to use 25 hectares of land near the Bandung Lautan Api Stadium (GBLA) to be used as a temporary Waste Disposal Site (TPS).

The Daily Executive (Plh) of the Mayor of Bandung, Ema Sumarna, explained that this was done in response to the hampered distribution of waste to the Sarimukti Final Disposal Site (TPA).

"We have a land there of 25 hectares belonging to the City Government. This will be the location of the temporary shelter," said Ema in Bandung, Wednesday, September 6, which was confiscated by Antara.

The temporary TPS near GBLA will precisely be located on the land located on Jalan Pendamping Tol in the direction of Babakan Sayang, Rancanumpang Village, Gedebage District. Previously, the location was planned to become a Waste Power Plant (PLTSa).

Ema revealed that this was done because currently the city of Bandung is still having difficulty finding a waste disposal location as a solution to the condition of the Sarimukti TPA, which is still a fire.

"The waste certificate is still in effect, and we are talking about the ideal of the Sarimuki TPA which is not what we imagined. Until yesterday (Tuesday, September 5, 2023) the smoke was still thick (at the Sarimukti TPA). The fire was still there, because the depth of the waste was 50 meters," said Ema.

The incident, said Ema, had an impact on increasingly limited waste transportation.

"Usually 241 ritations, now only 89 ritations. If that happens every day it means that 600-700 tons of garbage is stuck, that's one day," he said.

He explained that the scheme to be carried out at the TPS Meanwhile, was not buried as in Tegalega, but dumped as usual.

"The land used is two hectares. The plan is that one to two days of land construction will be completed, so after that the garbage can be thrown here," he said.

Previously, the Bandung City Government had also created Temporary TPS in Tegalega and Pasir Biru.

Apart from that, Ema asked the sub-district heads to educate the public to sort and choose garbage, as well as involve scavengers to choose inorganic waste.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Bandung City BLH B3 Waste and Waste Management Division, Salman Faruq, said that around the area to be used as a temporary polling station, a fence would be installed using zinc.

"There is no tree cut down here, this surroundings will be closed. We want to measure the area to be used. The area is about two hectares," he said.

The plan is for the waste disposal activities to be carried out this weekend. After the installation of the fence is complete.

"We will operate it once it is ready, one or a day it is ready. The next day Saturday it can be thrown here. This covers two hectares, because it is not just for garbage disposal, but for vehicle maneuvering," he said.
