CIANJUR - A total of three Javan eagle cubs in the Mount Gede Pangrango area. It is likely that it will continue to grow.

This was conveyed by the Head of the Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park (TNGGP) in Cianjur Regency, Sapto Aji. He said that the eggs from the Javan eagle in the nest located in the Cimande area of PTN Region III were first monitored on August 27 and hatched around September 3, 2023.

"The monitoring team found that the eggs were in the process of being attacked and known to have hatched, so that the number of young Javan eagles in the Gunung Gede Pangrango area, which was originally two, increased to three," he said in Cianjur, Wednesday, September 6, which was confiscated by Antara.

Previously, two Javan eagle cubs hatched in the Mount Gede Pangrango area on June 3, 2023 at the PTN Cibodas Resort and on June 13, 2023 at the PTN Tapos Resort, while the most recent one hatched on September 3, 2023 at the PTN Cimande Resort.

His party estimates that the number of Garuda birds will continue to grow because some time ago the monitoring team found that there were 10 other nests with eggs, so monitoring would continue while waiting for the planting process.

"We continue to strive to preserve the Javan eagle through routine nest and monitoring inventory every year with the hope that the TNGGP endemic rare animals will continue to grow in number," said Sapto.

The Javan eagle, he said, is a predator that plays an important role in the balance of the ecosystem, so it is important to obtain data and information on its existence in TNGGP to support conservation efforts.

"So far, the decline in the Javan eagle in the national park area in addition to being hunted for a lot to maintain, is also due to the destruction of habitats in its endemic area. We have made various efforts to keep its existence sustainable and increasing," said Sapto Aji.
