Floods Inundate 7 Districts In North Aceh

The Aceh Disaster Management Agency (BPBA) said that floods triggered by high rainfall hit seven sub-districts in North Aceh Regency, and temporary data on affected victims reached 10,923 people.

"The latest condition is that the water discharge is increasing," said BPBA Chief Executive Ilyas through the BPBA Disaster Management Operations Control Center (Pusdalops) as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 5.

He explained that the flood of water discharge in several rivers in North Aceh had occurred since Tuesday (5/9) at around 07.00 WIB.

According to him, flooding occurred due to high-intensity rain that occurred continuously in North Aceh in the past week, resulting in the overflow of the Krueng Pase, Krueng Pirak, Krueng Keuruto, and Krueng Peto rivers.

The affected areas are 22 gampongs (villages) in Matang Kuli District, 16 gampongs in Pirak Timu District, eight gampongs in Lhoksukon District, 10 gampongs in Samudera District, two gampongs in Tanah Luas District, two gampongs in Gereudong District, and one gampong in Syamtalira Aron District.

"The average water level is approximately between 30 70 centimeters," said Ilyas.

Temporary data from the North Aceh BPBD, said Ilyas, the affected victims were 10,923 people in 3,594 families (KK) spread across Samudera, Pirak Timu, Matang Kuli and Lhoksukon sub-districts.

Meanwhile, 2,798 people were displaced in 817 families spread across Samudera and Matangkul sub-districts.

"There were no casualties. The material impact of two embankment units in Gampong Tanjong Mesjid and Awe broke, about 120 hectares of rice fields were flooded, as well as several schools, sub-district offices, Polsek, and Koramil," he said.
