TIP Task Force Arrest 994 Suspects Save 2,585 Victims

JAKARTA - The National Police TIP Task Force formed by the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo arrested 994 suspects in the case of trafficking in persons. The arrests were made from June 5 to September 4. "The number of suspects in the TIP case is 994 people," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier Ahmad Ramadhan in his statement, Tuesday, September 5. The hundreds of suspects were the result of the prosecution of 827 police reports (LP) received by the task force at the Bareskrim level and the regional police ranks. Not only arresting suspects, the National Police's TIP Task Force managed to save thousands of people who were deceived by the modus operandi of trafficking in persons. "The number of victims of TIP who were rescued was 2,585 people," he said. Meanwhile, the mode that the suspects often use is to offer as migrant workers or household assistants (PRT). It is recorded that there are 515 cases that use this mode.

"The disclosure and prosecution of TIP can be fully revealed after the formation of the TIP task force on the orders of the National Police Chief to take firm action and prevent criminal acts of trafficking in persons," said Ramadhan.
