Bantul Regency Government Designs Waste Disposal System To Be Completed At The Village Level

BANTUL - Bantul Regency Government (Pemkab) directs a waste management system that can be directly resolved at the village or sub-district level.

Bantul Regent Abdul Halim Muslih hopes that these efforts can be alternative so that no one is dumped in the Piyungan Integrated Waste Disposal Site (TPST) as a regional landfill (TPA).

"If Bantul has determined to solve this waste problem in Bantul itself, so the draft Bantul waste management system has led to the resolution of waste in village villages," he said in Bantul, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), Monday, September 4, which was confiscated by Antara.

According to him, with the design of the waste management system to be completed at the village level, why then in every reservoir under the sub-district there is one waste management system or Waste Management Site (TPS) of the reducce, reuse and recycle (3R) system.

This, he said, was supported by the availability of a budget from the local government in the Education-Based Community Empowerment Program, each of which was Rp50 million, some of which was used for waste management.

"This means that Bantul has indeed assumed that it does not use the Piyungan TPST, and will lead to complete waste in a plenary manner in 2025, through the Bantul Bersama Program, Bantul Clean up Waste in 2025," he said.

Therefore, said the Regent, although the Piyungan TPST will be reopened on a limited basis on September 5 after being temporarily closed since July 23, which is the authority of the Yogyakarta Regional Government and provides space for the City of Yogyakarta, the district government can understand it.

"And the Governor of DIY has ordered the Mayor's Regent to be more independent in managing the waste," he said.

Therefore, he continued, in Bantul Regency, regulations continue to emerge to strengthen the waste management system, including the Regent's Decree which instructs kelurahan-kelurahan to prioritize more urgent activities in the village budget.

"So, the kelurahan in order to refocus the APBDes (Village Expenditure Revenue Budget), to ensure the village-level waste management system, the village level must go towards a permanent settlement," he said.

The Regent also said that the kelurahan consists of hamlets that have been provided by the budget, so that if the scenario is successful it means that the waste can be completed in the kelurahan.

"So Bantul is not affected by the reopening of the Piyungan TPST, and we prefer the option of self-consuming, permanently for the sustainability of a healthier environment in the future," he said.
