Joining The Prabowo Coalition Or Ganjar, Democratic Party Awaits SBY's Decision

Head of BPOKK Democrat Party Herman Khaeron said his party would join other coalitions after leaving the Coalition for Change and Unity (KPP) which brought Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar as a pair of presidential and vice presidential candidates in 2024.

In the near future, Herman revealed, Chairman of the Upper House of the Democratic Party Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) will decide which political party will cooperate.

"Within the next few weeks, there may be a decision that will also be conveyed by the Chairman of the Democratic Party's High Council," said Herman at the DPP office of the Democratic Party, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Monday, September 4.

Regarding the opportunities for a coalition with political parties supporting Prabowo Subianto or Ganjar Pranowo, Herman could not confirm yet. He asked the public to wait for the Democratic MTP decision. Or it could be, he said, the Democratic Party built a new axis.

"Yes, we'll just have to wait. As soon as the upper house of the Democratic party decides there must be reasons, there are reasons why it has to form a coalition A or coalition B. Or maybe even politics is very dynamic, who knows later will build a new coalition, it could be," he said.

Herman explained that the Democratic Party has 14 change programs that will be elaborated with the new coalition when it has determined the direction of support.

"Democrats from the start have 14 change programs for a better Indonesia. Of course this will be a Democrat jargon, although later there will be an collaboration with the next coalition party," explained Herman.

He also believes that the NasDem Party coalition, PKS and PKB will change the name of the coalition and not use the term change. Because, he said, the change would become a Democratic Party jargon.

"In my opinion, it will be changed later, maybe," he said.

Previously, the Chairman of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), stated that his party would join other coalitions after the revocation of support for Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate and leave the Change Coalition for Unity (KPP). He emphasized that the Democrats remain consistent in the path of change and improvement.

"In an effort to fight for these changes and improvements, the Democrats will strive to join other coalitions that have a common perspective, national vision and political ethics," AHY said at the DPP Democratic Party, Monday, September 4.

AHY also admitted that he had moved on from a surprising political dynamic after Anies chose Cak Imin as his vice presidential candidate.

"Today we, the family of the Democratic Party, are heartened, with humility we are moving on and ready to welcome good opportunities in front of us," said AHY.
