Courier 9.11 Grams Of Shabu Sentenced To Judge Medan District Court 8 Years In Prison

The panel of judges at the Medan District Court, North Sumatra, Monday sentenced the defendant Mas Darwin alias Darwin from Medan in the case of being a courier for narcotics type methamphetamine weighing 9.11 grams.

"Imposing and adjudicating the defendant Mas Darwin alias Darwin for eight years, a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to six months in prison," said presiding judge Yusafrihardi Girsang while reading the verdict reported by ANTARA, Monday, September 4.

The panel of judges in the verdict stated from the facts of the defendant's trial as regulated and threatened with criminal sanctions Article 114 paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics.

Namely, as the primary indictment, without rights or against the law offers to sell, sell, buy, accept, become intermediaries in buying and selling, exchanging and handing over narcotics class I weighing more than five grams, namely 9.11 grams.

"The aggravating thing is that the defendant's actions do not support the government's program, which is currently active in eradicating drugs, which makes it easier for the defendant to regret his actions," said Yusafrihardi.

After reading the verdict, the panel of judges gave seven days to the defendant's legal adviser (PH), the defendant Darwin and the prosecutor to think about it, accept or appeal the decision.

The judge's decision was lighter than the demands of the Public Prosecutor (JPU) Daniel Surya Partogi for 10 years, a fine of Rp. 2 billion, subsidiary to one year in prison.

In the indictment, on April 4, 2023, police officers received information that it was in the area on the edge of the Jalan Alfaka 7 Neighborhood 6, Tanjung Mulia Hilir Village, Medan Deli District.

Following up on this information, officers immediately went to the location to find the defendant. Upon arrival, the defendant was secured along with evidence of plastic clips containing methamphetamine of Rp. 359 thousand.

After being interrogated, the defendant got the illicit goods from Babeh (DPO) with a pay system after selling them.
