JAKARTA - A video containing a statement by a man claiming to be a representative of Rabithah Ma'aid Islamiyah (RMI) PCNU East Jakarta, which asked for Rabithah Alawiyah's disbandment, went viral on social media.

Rabithah Alawiyah itself is an Islamic organization that houses descendants directly from the Prophet Muhammad SAW in Indonesia and gathers Indonesian citizens (WNI) of Arab descent.

In a video circulating on social media, the man stated that the government should take legal steps with Rabithah Alawiyah on the grounds of maintaining the benefit of the people in Indonesia.

Responding to the viral video, the East Jakarta Nahdlatul Ulama (PCNU) Branch Manager denied that the man's statement submitted at the discussion activity represented the East Jakarta PCNU.

Chairman of the East Jakarta PCNU, Azaz Rulyaqih said that his party had never been involved in discussing the Prophet's Dzurriyat (derivative) and issued an official statement regarding it.

"We clarify that the opinion that wants to declare imprisoning or disbanding Rabithah Alawiyah is a personal opinion," said Azaz, in a written statement, Sunday, September 3.

He said that the man who issued the statement regarding the disbandment of Rabithah Alawiyah was recorded as the management of RMI East Jakarta, but the statement did not represent the organization.

So that the opinion conveyed in the discussion activities on one campus is the responsibility and personal consequences of the party issuing a statement.

"We clarify that it is not from the organization. RMI is an institution that represents pesantren. We also summoned representatives of pesantren, who later also disagreed with the statement," said Azaz.

PCNU East Jakarta appealed to all parties not to issue statements that could or risk damaging the integrity, unity, and community of religious communities.

Secretary of PCNU East Jakarta, Syarif Cakhyono said that his party had issued a statement of attitude on the statement whose contents also clarified the viral video.

"In an organization there is no directive, recommendation, or recommendation attitude, let alone demanding the legal process and the dissolution of Rabithah Alawiyah," said Cakhyono.

His party regretted the video circulating on behalf of RMI PCNU East Jakarta because it could cause division and hostility in society.

Cakhyono said PCNU East Jakarta had been in a harmonious relationship with scholars, the Habaib in maintaining and fostering community harmony.

"PCNU East Jakarta continues to maintain harmony between religious communities, and maintain the integrity of the Republic of Indonesia," continued Cakhyono.
