Disappointed Democrat Anies-Cak Imin Duet, PKS: Vice Presidential Candidate Determined By Anies Baswedan

JAKARTA - The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) responded to the political dynamics that occurred in the Coalition for Amendments to Unity (KPP) after the news emerged of the Anies Baswedan duet and the General Chairperson of the PKB, Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin.

Almuzammil said PKS respects every political party that has the right and sovereignty in determining its political stance. PKS also emphasized that the affairs of the vice presidential candidate (cawapres) are the authority of Anies as the KPP presidential candidate.

"We stick to the previous agreement in the charter of the Coalition for Amendments to Unity (KPP) that in determining the Candidate for Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Anies President Rasyid Baswedan," said the Head of Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Polhukam) of the PKS DPP Almuzammil Yusuf, in his statement, Thursday, August 31.

Previously, the Democrat Party felt betrayed by Anies and NasDem as candidates for president and coalition partners at the KPP regarding the determination of the vice president. It is known that the Democrats have so far proposed General Chair Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) as Anies' companion.

The KPP Team-8 member revealed that various efforts had been made to find common ground in the Coalition for Amendments to Unity (KPP). However, he said, these efforts had not yet obtained the desired results together.

Almuzammil emphasized that PKS still refers to the decision of the VIII Syuro Council Deliberation (MMS) that PKS officially supports and carries Anies Rasyid Baswedan as a presidential candidate for the Republic of Indonesia in the 2024 presidential election.

"PKS remains with MMS VIII's decision, and we will fight our best in carrying out the mandate," he said.

"We ask for prayers and support from the Indonesian people so that the upcoming 2024 elections will run directly, in general, free, secret, honest and fair while maintaining the unity and integrity of the Indonesian nation," added Almuzammil.
