President Jokowi Reminds Rivalry And Geopoliticals To Heat Up

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo reminded all parties that rivalry and geopolitical situations are currently heating up and becoming one of the challenges of every country.

This was conveyed by the President in his remarks at the Opening of Mahasabha XIII of the 2023 Dharma Indonesia Hindu Student Association (KMHDI) in Palu City, Central Sulawesi, Wednesday, August 29.

"The challenge of this world is not easy. Rivalities and geopoliticals are the same way, not getting subsided but increasing, heating up," Jokowi said as quoted by ANTARA.

The President said the heated rivalry and geopolitical affairs did not only occur in the western region, the Russian and Ukrainian war, but also near Indonesia.

Jokowi said that what is no less scary is climate change which is now starting to be felt by almost all countries.

"What is usually cold becomes hot, which usually heats up to become hotter. Hot waves, super El Nino, is something we have to deal with wisely," he said.

Regarding climate change, the President said that in Hindu teachings, there is something called Tri Hita Karana, one of which is palmahan, which is the harmonious relationship between humans and nature.

According to President Jokowi, this is often forgotten in modern life. Many people think as if nature is fine.

"Suddenly there came heat waves in almost some countries in the world. Therefore, we are all almost all haunted by what is called climate change. Everything," said Jokowi.

Therefore, Jokowi emphasized the importance of implementing a green economy. According to him, all countries are currently trying to enter into the implementation of the green economy.

The President said the green economy is a challenge as well as an opportunity that must be realized, including regarding downstreaming in various sectors.
