DCS Rebuttal Period Ends, West Kalimantan KPU Continues To Re-verify Candidates 2024

The General Election Commission (KPU) of West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan) stated that it had closed the process of discontinuing from the public regarding the determination of the list of candidates (DCS) for legislative candidates (caleg) participating in the 2024 General Election.

"Today is the last day of rebuttal from the community for the DCS which has been determined by the Indonesian KPU. During the process, no community has conveyed the non-performance of the legislative Party who will be participants in the upcoming 2024 General Election, meaning that all legislative candidates who are included in the DCS have no problem with its feasibility," said West Kalimantan KPU Commissioner Kartono Nuriyadi in Pontianak, Monday, August 28, quoted by Antara.

Kartono explained that this decision is an important step in the process of screening and verifying candidates who will compete in the upcoming election.

Previously, in preparation for the 2024 General Election, the West Kalimantan KPU had announced the DCS candidate from various political parties that would participate in the democratic process.

The refutation period, said Kartono, which is a stage where people can respond or refute the feasibility and validity of candidates registered with DCS, has been going on for several weeks.

The people of West Kalimantan were asked to participate in the supervision and selection process by providing relevant information or evidence related to legislative candidates registered in DCS. These objections can be related to qualifications, track records, or other information that can affect the integrity and feasibility of candidates in the context of general elections.

"KPU West Kalimantan has tried to provide a fair and transparent opportunity for the community to participate in ensuring that candidates registered with DCS meet the requirements and have the capacity needed to become representatives of the people in legislative institutions," he said.

With the closure of the rebuttal period, the West Kalimantan KPU will begin the process of assessing and re-verifying candidates who have received rebuttals from the public. This step was taken to ensure that the election went according to the expected integrity and democracy standards.

The West Kalimantan KPU also appealed to all relevant parties, including political parties and the community, to continue to monitor and support all stages of the 2024 General Election. Active participation of all elements of society is considered crucial in building a strong and sustainable democratic process.

"With the end of the rebuttal period, the next process will involve an in-depth evaluation of the rebuttal received. The results of the verification will be publicly announced to the public as part of the West Kalimantan KPU's commitment to maintaining transparency and accountability in the 2024 election process," he said.
