PPP Says As Long As It Has Not Been Chosen As A Vice Presidential Candidate, Sandiaga Voters Will Not Support Ganjar Candidates

JAKARTA - PPP Deputy General Chair Amir Uskara views PPP Election Winning Body (Bappilu) Chairman Sandiaga Uno still has a fairly large voter base in the 2024 presidential and vice presidential candidate contestation.

PPP has actually proposed to PDIP to make Sandiaga a vice presidential candidate (cawapres) from Ganjar Pranowo in his coalition.

However, Amir said that currently Sandiaga voters will not necessarily support Ganjar in the 2024 presidential election. Because, until now PDIP has not determined which choice the vice presidential candidate is Ganjar.

So, as long as Sandiaga is not proposed as a companion to Ganjar, the former Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta will not participate in supporting Ganjar in the 2024 presidential election.

"As long as Mr. Ganjar and Mas Sandi have not been juxtaposed, Mr. Sandi's constituents will not vote for Mr. Ganjar. We are very confident that the constituents in Mr. Sandi will choose Mr. Sandi, not Mr. Ganjar," said Amir on the sidelines of the Bappilu PPP coordination meeting in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, Sunday, August 27.

Amir said the majority of Sandiaga's supporters were women and millennial groups. According to him, Sandiaga's current voter base is still different from Ganjar's supporters.

"Until now, what we have read, indeed, if Mr. Ganjar is juxtaposed with Mr. Sandi, it hasn't been raised. Why? Because Mas Sandi's constituents with Mas Ganjar are ideologically different," said Amir.

However, PPP is still expressing its support for Ganjar as a presidential candidate in 2024 and proposing Sandiaga as Ganjar vice presidential candidate according to the results of the PPP national leadership meeting (rapimnas) on June 17.

"Because PPP has decided on a candidate, of course we don't think about it first. Until now, we are still consistent with our decision to juxtapose Pak Sandi as a candidate for PPP and we carry the coalition as a partner of Pak Ganjar," he added.
