Sandiaga Clarifies The Invitation To PKS-Democrats Is Not A New Axis Form, But Participates In The Coalition To Support Ganjar Candidates

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Election Winning Body (Bappilu) of the United Development Party (PPP) Sandiaga Uno clarified about himself trying to embrace PKS and the Democratic Party in the current political dynamics. Sandiaga explained that his invitation to PKS and Democrats was not in order to form a new coalition axis, but an offer to join the coalition that carried Ganjar Pranowo as a presidential candidate with PDIP and PPP. "Earlier, it was also conveyed the cadres' desire for PPP to participate in the presidential election procession in accordance with the rapid national election decision and it was confirmed earlier and later it will be conveyed by the Acting Ketum that in accordance with the rapid national election, PPP carries Mr. Ganjar Pranowo as a presidential candidate and also reads the vice president from PPP. That was confirmed to be fought for," explained Sandiaga. Sandiaga realized that Bappilu should not open scenarios for the nomination of presidential and vice-presidential candidates to the public because this is the authority of the general chairman of the party. "Bappilu's focus is on how we win, his name is also the governing body for the election, so we will coordinate with for example Bappilu for other parties because in some areas there is a synergy that I mapped," said the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy. Previously, rumors about the new PPP hang axis inviting PKS and Democrats were revealed by Sandiaga when responding to the discourse on the duet of Ganjar Pranowo and Anies Baswedan in the 2024 presidential election. According to him, if the Ganjar-Anies duet is the direction ahead, his party ensures that it can answer the community's challenges. However, Sandiaga did not openly admit that he wanted to invite PKS and Democrats to form a new axis. He said he wanted cooperation with the two parties that had expressed their support to carry Anies in the 2024 presidential election. "If it becomes an agreement, we also want to invite the cooperation of the Democratic Party, especially AHY (Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono), and PKS for the future," said Sandiaga on Thursday, August 24.

"If we consolidate and merge, then we must also include all elements in the concept of development sustainability. So this is what we will hope so that later we can contribute again in 2024," he added.
