JAKARTA Google Messages, one of the software that can be found on Android devices, gets a new feature. With this new feature, the security of the messaging application is increasingly maintained.

In a statement, Google said that it had launched the 'detection of AI-backed fraud' feature. This feature can find a pattern of conversational text leading to fraud so that users can avoid harm.

"Google Messages now uses AI to flag the pattern of conversational text commonly associated with fraud, so you can identify messages that appear harmless, but turn into dangerous," Google said.

This Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based detection tool will periodically monitor the contents of SMS, MMS, and RCS messages. When one of the chat rooms shows signs of fraud, the fraud detection feature will alert its users.

In the warning, AI will explain that they detect suspicious conversation patterns. They will also say that the pattern of conversations users receive is often used to initiate scams.

At the bottom of the fraud window, users can immediately report the sender of the message by tapping the Report and Block button. If the user believes that the sender of the message is a trusted person, the user can press the Not Fraud button.

"This feature can help protect you before you lose money or sensitive information. Fraud detection occurs on your device, so your conversations remain private," explains Google.

AI-based fraud detection features are only launched in English and are first available in the US, UK, and Canada. In the future, this feature will be extended to Android devices in more countries.
