The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Asks The National Police For An Example Of The Attorney General's Office For Aggressive Handling Corruption Cases

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said eradicating rasuah practices is not only its business. Law enforcement officials such as the Attorney General's Office and the National Police also play a role. "Of course the KPK becomes the leading sector in eradicating corruption and we constantly invite other law enforcement officers, the prosecutor's office and the police together," said KPK Deputy Chair Alexander Marwata in the KPK RI YouTube show, Thursday, August 24. Alexander then mentioned the aggressiveness of the Attorney General's Office in handling corruption cases. He hopes that the Police will also have the same commitment. Moreover, the Police have members scattered throughout the country. "Our Prosecutor's Office can see that at this time it is very aggressive to take action against the perpetrators of corruption," he stressed. "And we also hope from the police. They have officers not only at the center but throughout the region and I think if they really are concerned and really care about eradicating corruption, of course they will not hesitate to take action against regional heads or regional officials who are proven to commit corruption," continued Alexander. Previously, the KPK was in the spotlight after the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri had spoken to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) so that the institution was dissolved. Therefore, corruption is still happening. "I sometimes told Mr. Jokowi, 'if I have disbanded the KPK, sir. I don't think it'," he said in The Tribrata, Jakarta. The PDIP General Chair admitted that there was no problem if anyone thought the statement was outspoken. Because, the KPK is a form-up institution in the era of his government. "Mrs if you talk ces pleng, you know me who made it (KPK) really," said Megawati in the event.

After the spotlight, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said Megawati didn't mean anything. He said he only wanted the eradication of corruption to run optimally. Hasto has even clarified directly to Megawati. "It's completely not true, because he founded the KPK in the spirit to fulfill the mandate of reform," he said in a written statement.
