Visit Forest Fire Victims In Hawaii, President Biden: We Are With You

JAKARTA - President Joe Biden ensured that the United States Government would continue to support the people of Maui, Hawaii after being hit by a forest fire that killed more than 114 people, praising the extraordinary resilience of the local community.

"We focus on what's next. It's a long-term rebuilding... and doing it together," President Biden said after traveling around the charred city of Lahaina.

On that occasion, President Biden also ensured that the voices of the local people would be heard, with local traditions and wisdom to be respected.

"The American people support you. As long as necessary, we will be with you," he said accompanied by Hawaii State Governor Josh Green, Hawaii senator and EU representative at the US Congress.

President Biden, who was accompanied by First Lady Jill Biden, emphasized that the re-development of the region will follow the wishes of the people of Lahaina.

"This will be a long way to go." he said.

Meanwhile, Governor Green thanked President Biden for his assistance, praising the unprecedented speed of federal response.

Meanwhile, Democratic Senator Brian Schatz said President Biden had instructed his entire cabinet to help Maui restore things to normal over time.

Hurricanes exacerbated by hurricanes in Lahaina killed at least 114 people, with the death toll still growing, while the official number of missing citizens reached 850, down from the original 2,000, Mayor of Maui County Richard Bissen said on Facebook.
