Squeezing the Breasts of a Female Prisoner at the South Sulawesi Regional Police Headquarters, Police Officers are Examined by Propam

MAKASSAR - The Professional and Security Division (Bid Propam) of the South Sulawesi Regional Police confirmed that they are currently processing a police officer named First Brigadier SNJ who is suspected of sexually assaulting a female detainee at the South Sulawesi Regional Police Headquarters.

This incident of sexual harassment was reported to have occurred last July, where a police officer on duty at the Directorate of Detention and Evidence (Dit Tahti) of the South Sulawesi Regional Police allegedly abused a female detainee named FMB (31).

"We are handling this case at Bid Propam. We have examined the suspected police officers," said Head of Public Relations of the South Sulawesi Regional Police, Commissioner of Police (Kombes Pol) Komang Suartana, Tuesday, August 15.

Komang also emphasized that the South Sulawesi Regional Police's Propam Propam will carry out an in-depth study of this case by examining witnesses, including police officers who are on duty and detainees who are at the Regional Police.

"We have coordinated with Bid Propam and this case is currently under investigation," he added.

This sexual harassment was first revealed through the confession of the victim's boyfriend, HA, after visiting his girlfriend at the South Sulawesi Police Tahti Dit Tahti recently.

"Recently I felt a change in the aura of her face, I felt that there was a problem. During the visitation process, she finally opened up and told some of the events. Only today I found out the details," said HA.

HA explained that according to the victim's statement, this incident occurred at the end of July. At that time, police officer Brigadier SNJ allegedly entered the women's detention cell in a state of intoxication due to alcohol. He then embraced the victim from behind and squeezed her breasts.

"The incident occurred around the 20th of July. The victim was sleeping at almost dawn, then the police officer entered the woman's cell in a drunken state. He hugged my girlfriend and squeezed her breasts," said HA.

Brigadier SNJ then tried to have intercourse, but the victim refused on the grounds that she was menstruating. The SNJ Brigadier finally took the victim to the bathroom and forced him to perform sexual activity using her mouth.

"My girlfriend refused, but he forced her to have sexual activity. The police opened his pants in the cell, then forced her to do oral sex. My girlfriend refused, but he still forced her three times," continued HA.

Apart from that, the victim also admitted that this person often touched her vital parts.

"The victim revealed that this was not the first time, similar abuse had often occurred by the same person. For example, when my girlfriend was walking, he often touched her breasts and buttocks. This has happened frequently," he continued.

In response to this case, the victim's boyfriend and his family planned to seek help from LBH (Legal Aid Institute).
