Children Exposed To ARI, Mother In Tangsel Blames Neighbors For Burning Garbage

TANGERANG - A five-year-old toddler has been declared known for his acute respiratory tract infection (ARI). Eli once a toddler's mother said her child was infected because he breathed smoke from the burning of his neighbor's garbage.

"Children cough, the ISPA diagnosis. (The cause) My environment likes to burn garbage, apart from rent, we often burn garbage. We still have a garbage dump, but other neighbors build it, sometimes the grass is burned, maybe it enters the house," Eli told reporters, Sunday, August 13.

Therefore, he hopes for his neighbors to reduce burning garbage. Because the concept is very dangerous for children.

"It's better not to burn garbage, because children under five are like this, their children are not yet in strong breath, we are the ones who are big in danger, let alone children," he said.

Previously, it was reported that as many as two children were infected with acute respiratory infection (ARI). The two children are 6 months old and 5 years old.

The Head of South Tangerang General Hospital Service, Dr. Taufik Dipa Sempana, said that this child was being treated at his hospital.

"Currently in our care, there are 2 people. 6 months and 5 years," Taufik told reporters, Sunday, August 13.

Taufik explained that there are two reasons why people are infected with ARI such as bacteria, viruses to air pollution. He said one of the patients was suspected to be due to smoke burning garbage in his environment.

"If the cause of the ispa is due to microorganisms such as viruses and fungi, there are also air police such as cigarettes and garbage burning," he said.

"Then in its place there is one that is infected not from fungi or viruses, so it is possible from the pollution earlier," he continued.
