JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has coordinated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu) regarding its fugitive, Paulus Tannos.

This effort was made to repatriate the suspect in the corruption case in the procurement of an Electronic KTP or e-KTP.

Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur said coordination was carried out through the Directorate of Inter-Commission and Agencies Work Development (PJKAKI) of the KPK. He said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would open a diplomatic route with one of the countries in Africa that issued passports for Paulus Tannos.

"The Indonesian government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will ask the government in the country that issued the passport that the person concerned (Paulus Tannos, ed) is an Indonesian citizen," Asep told reporters, Saturday, August 12.

Then Asep said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would explain that Tannos was a suspect in the corruption he was looking for. "So they were asked to be there, their citizenship was revoked again," he explained.

Asep ensured that the diplomatic process for the revocation of Paulus Tannos' passport was still ongoing. This effort was only made because the KPK learned about the change in the identity of the fugitive recently.

"Then we have proposed the re-published red notice with a new name," said Asep.

Previously, the KPK revealed that Paulus Tannos no longer holds Indonesian passports. He is now on the passport of a country in South Africa and has a different name.

As a reminder, the KPK is not only chasing Paulus Tannos. Currently, there are other fugitives being chased.

The first is Kotama, which has been sought since 2017 because of the alleged bribery for the application for a revision of the forest function in Riau Province in 2014 to the Ministry of Forestry.

Second, former candidate Harun Masiku, who is a suspect in giving bribes to former General Elections Commission (KPU) Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan, is still unknown. Currently, the search for the former legislative candidate (caleg) is still being carried out at home and abroad.
