JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said it could not arrest one of its fugitives, Paulus Tannos. The reason is that the suspect in the e-KTP procurement corruption case has changed his name and nationality.
"When we found and arrested him, we couldn't repatriate him," said KPK Head of Reporting Section, Ali Fikri, to journalists, Tuesday, August 8.
Ali said that this condition confused the anti-corruption commission. "We can't stop thinking," he said.
"Why can a fugitive change his name in Indonesia and have another country's passport," continued Ali.
As a reminder, the KPK is still pursuing three fugitives. The first is Kirana Kotama, who has been wanted since 2017 for alleged bribery when submitting a revision to the conversion of forest functions in Riau Province in 2014 to the Ministry of Forestry.
Second, Paulus Tannos was accused of corruption in the procurement of Electronic Identity Cards (e-KTP). He is currently in Singapore.
