Police Hunt For Ojol Perpetrators Of Rape Of Brazilian Foreigners In Bali

DENPASAR - Bali Regional Police and Denpasar Police formed a special team to hunt down an online motorcycle taxi driver (online motorcycle taxi) suspected of being the perpetrator of the rape of a Brazilian foreign national on vacation in Bali.

The Head of Public Relations of the Bali Police, Police Commissioner Jansen Avitus Panjaitan, said that from the results of the interim investigation, the police pocketed the identity of the alleged perpetrator with the initials WD from Bangsalsari, Jember, East Java.

Jansen said the alleged rape of a female victim from Brazil with the initials GWL by an ojol driver occurred on Monday, August 7, 2023, at around 04.00 WITA to 05.00 WITA in an empty land on Jalan Nyangnyang Jimbaran, South Kuta, Badung.

"The Bali Police and Denpasar Police have formed a team to find and arrest the perpetrators. The team has also visited the victim and asked for information to complete the post-mortem and collect evidence, as well as to provide a sense of security. The police have also provided special support and assistance to the victim," Jansen said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 8.

Jansen explained that the incident began when the victim GWL ordered online motorcycle taxi transportation services through the application because he wanted to travel from Puri Kelapa Quest By Bukit Villa to Villa Asri Jimbaran, Nusa Dua. A few moments later, the vehicle ordered came to pick up the victim.

According to the victim, during the trip, the victim was invited to continue to communicate by the perpetrator until the victim did not pay attention to the map of the travel route on the google maps that were the destination.

Until at an empty land location, the ojol driver turned the vehicle around. At that place, the victim was immediately unloaded from the vehicle.

Furthermore, the perpetrator carried out his evil act of raping the victim. The victim also fought back and tried to escape, but was arrested by the perpetrator.

Apart from committing rape, the perpetrator also committed physical violence against the victim in the form of beatings. After committing the depraved act, the perpetrator returned to take the victim back to Vila Asri Jimbaran, where the victim was staying.

The victim, a Brazilian tourist on vacation to Bali, also reported the incident to the police station.

Until now, the perpetrators of the rape have not been found and are still being searched by the Bali Police Criminal Investigation team and Denpasar Police.
