KPK Believes Professional Council Handles Report Of Alexander Marwata Due To OTT Basarnas

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) believes that the Supervisory Board is professional in handling reports of alleged ethical violations that come in. No exception, the report submitted by the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) against the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Alexander Marwata was in the aftermath of the polemic of the National SAR Agency (Basarnas) arrest operation (OTT).

"Once again, the KPK Supervisory Board, if it is true that there is a report, it will definitely follow up professionally, independently," said Head of the News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Thursday, August 3.

The KPK is confident that Alexander's move to announce the Head of Basarnas Marshal Henri Alfiandi and his subordinates, Koorsmin Kabasarnas Lt. Col. Afri Budi Cahyanto is right. However, they had no problem with the report.

Ali said, the public does have the right to submit a report to the KPK Supervisory Board. "Because normatively there is room for that," he said.

"People can complain about any ethical allegations committed by KPK personnel," continued Ali.

As previously reported, MAKI officially reported KPK Deputy Chair Alexander Marwata to the Supervisory Board on Wednesday, August 2 yesterday.

MAKI attorney Kurniawan Adi Nugroho alluded to the announcement of the determination of Henri and his subordinates, Koorsmin Kabasarnas Lt. Col. Afri Budi Cahyanto as suspects in violating the rules. The reason is that the investigation warrant (sprindik) was not issued by the KPK but by the TNI POM.

"It can't be done without the sprindik. Because it violates human rights," Kurniawan told reporters at the ACLC KPK Building, Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, Wednesday, August 2.

Meanwhile, Alexander Marwata explained that the application of the bribery article made Henri Alfiandi and Afri Budi Cahyanto continue to be announced as suspects on Thursday, July 25. In fact, at that time no sprindik had been issued.

The KPK only issued sprindiks on three private parties as givers. They are the President Commissioner of PT Multi Grafika Cipta Sejati Mulsunadi Gunawan, President Director of PT Intertekno Grafika Sejati Marilya, President Director of PT Kunji Abadi Utama Roni Aidil.

"Because in principle bribery is a giver and recipient. So we say we set five people," Alexander said at a press conference at the KPK's Red and White House, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Monday, July 31.

Meanwhile, Henri and Afri are published by POM TNI. "When the perpetrators of the crime are still active, the handling is carried out by the TNI Puspom," he said.
